Animal Welfare in the Clinic
Why is the experience of going to the vets, for some animals, a negative one? Is it the anticipated pain, the way the place smells, the colour of the waiting room, the noises coming from the consulting room, or something else?
On this short online course, learn what vets, vet nurses, animal carers, and owners can do to ensure that the welfare of the animal is supported at every stage of the clinical visit (from transportation, waiting area, examination, operating room, and recovery).
Leading experts in the field of animal behaviour, welfare, veterinary medicine, and industry provide an insight into practical approaches and considerations for improving and maintaining animal welfare in the clinic.
This course is divided into four areas:
- animal behaviour & welfare
- waiting area & consulting room
- preparation area and operating room, recovery areas/kennels, and in-patient care
- post-operative care.
By the end of this course, you will have gained a greater knowledge and understanding of animal welfare in the clinic, practical applications for improving animal welfare, and an opportunity to share experiences and develop a community of practice, through the discussion boards.
This course is hosted on an external learning platform.
